BUREAUCRACY : BIG BREAKING - CG LIQUOR CASE :

Supreme Court Today Stayed the Case registered by Uttar Pradesh’s Special Task Force (STF) related to Chhattisgarh Liquor Case worth ₹2,000 Crore registered by Enforcement Directorate (Complainant) registered on 30th July 2023. 

A SLP was filed by Vidhu Gupta, Manufacturer of Holograms which was listed before the bench of Justice Abhay S Oka & Justice Augustine George Masih, on which superme court issued notice returnable on 20th September 2024, until then all proceedings in the said FIR number 196/2023 must remain stayed. 

Petition was filed by Vidhu Gupta in Allahabad High Court regarding quashing and staying of the FIR but it was declared infructuous and was withdrawn as arrest took place in between, so this SLP was filed against that order in which stay is granted in all proceedings of the said FIR. 

Supreme Court had earlier quashed an ECIR 11/2022 and prosecution complaint filed by Enforcement Directorate on 8th April 2024. UP FIR was registered on the basis of complaint / information of Raipur Enforcement Directorate in July 2023. 

UP STF has already arrested Retd IAS Anil Tuteja, Ex MD CSMCL Arunpati Tripathi, Anwar Dhebar and Vidhu Gupta in this case, also had filed chargesheet against Vidhu Gupta in Meerut Special Court (PC Act) in July 2024.
